Burning Audio CDs

1.1 Winamp - Creating WAVs from MP3s

To be able to listen to MP3 files using your normal CDplayer of your home stereo - you have to convert the MP3s to WAVs and then burn these WAVs to CD. The first step is easily carried out by WinAMP - WinAMP comes with a feature that lets you convert all the files you can play back to WAVs.

Now - open WinAMP, left-click onto the left upper edge of the WinAMPsurface.

Choose Prefrences and then Options from the pulldown menu.

Now choose Plug-Ins and Output, find the "Nullsoft Disk Writer Plugin" as shown in the picture.
From this moment on the output device is no more your soundcard ! All the files played back from now on are written to you harddisk drive (HDD) as WAV-files.

The next step is to configure the path and directory on you HDD in which the .wav files will be stored in, eg. c:\temp\

Now you just play back the songs you want to convert to WAV, one after the other.
You might be irritated at first, because you will not hear a thing - though the timebar of WinAMP starts running as usual. If you listen closely the only thing you will hear is - the sound of you HDD writing.

After playing back all those files you wanted to convert - you can find them in the defined directory -as .wav files.

Read/Mind this:

You should go through all the steps described above and change the plugin back to the former "Nullsoft Waveout plugin" immediately.
I forgot it so many times and then (next day or so) started to check all the cables coming and going from my soundcard when I wanted to listen to WinAMP. The diskwriter mode looks like everything is nomal - playback is running - only thing is - you do not hear anything....

1.2 Burning the WAVs via CD Copier Deluxe

The newer version of the CD Copier Deluxe (4.0) and Nero lets you directly burn MP3s as regular audio CDs -but the older versions won't.
After opening CD Copier Deluxe you are asked whether you want to burn an audio or a data CD.
In this case we want to create an audio CD.

The CD Copier Deluxe Wizard will ask you for the directory in which the WAV files are located.

Now mark all the files you want to burn. Add now will add them to the CDs titel layout.

The amount of data that is already about to be copied to your audio CD is represented by the colored scale on the bottom of the page. See how full the scale is to learn how much more titles you will be able to add to your CD layout !

When you finsihed creating you CD layout, go to the top pulldown menu. Choose File, then choose Create CD. The Creation Setup allows you to adjust the writing speed and to choose whether to run a writeTest before burning ( only do this if you are burning for the fist time , or if you have had problems with burning recently !) or not.

Under Advanced, choose close session - otherwise you will not be able to play back the Cd on a conventional home CD player !!!

Go back toGeneral and start the writing process with "OK".
